Week 29
Hej på er :)
The sun was out a lot this week! Sunny rays and almost warm weather called for a lot of walks and a lot of miracles!
We went on a walk with this one girl who we met on Facebook. Near the end of our beautiful walk together we got into some questions about where she was at with her faith. With a smile she said "I didn't grow up going to church, but then I moved to Idaho (from Argentina) and I met some friends who are members of the church, and for the last 6 months I have kept having thoughts and seeing signs that I needed to go to church. And now I've met you."
I would like to take a second to wish everyone happy waffle day on Friday! Me and my comp celebrated by having 3 meals with people in 4 hours. BUT at the end we got a bag of Waffles to take home. On the train I saw this guy and had a very clear and strong impression to offer them to him. So as awkwardly as humanly possible, I approach this man, wait for him to take out his headphones, offer them, and then again, as awkwardly as possible, return to my seat as he had awkwardly said no.
Kinda awkward.
BUT there's always a reason for promptings!! During this exchange a guy saw my tag and then came a sat by us and asked us amazing questions. Within the 10 min train ride he told us about his conversion to Jesus Christ... which blew my mind. I'm just gonna bullet point it.
- Drugs and gangs his whole life
- apartment burned down
- was homeless
- took his own life (was dead for 2 minutes??)
- survived, started going to church with a friend
- goes to church 4 times a week, sober for 5 months, and filled with so much joy.
It was SO cool to hear someone witness on the train how Jesus Christ has changed his life personally. He then got the address to our church and said about 5 times before he got off "I'm excited to come see your church, I really wanna be there."
And I realized that the Lord is really out here preparing people :)
Other highlights include:
- we workout like straight vikings in an outdoor wooden gym now
- traveled 2 hours to an activity to translate that we didn't actually need to be there for (but they had good sandwiches)
- a sweet old man took us and the elders to lunch. and we walked into the toughest looking biker bar right next to the temple with some sketchy stuff on the walls and he said "this is the place."
- side note - Elder walker is a real one for taking half of my and Syster Chandler's food there.... hardest worker in the room.
- may or may not have gotten my bike stolen...
Please keep Susanne in your prayers!
