Week 22!
Okay okay okay,
I'm gonna start off saying something our bishop said in Church yesterday:
Church is a hospital for the sick, not a museum for the holy.
Wow.
I really hope all of our friends listened to that. That all of the members who don't feel worthy to come to church listened to that. Every Sunday during my mission has been a time of huge reflection on what I can do to better learn and live my baptismal covenants: how I can be more like Jesus Christ.
And so, watching our friend come in feeling stressed and tense and unworthy and all of those emotions, asking the elders for a blessing, and leaving with the brightest smile confirmed this thought in my head:
Church is a hospital for the sick, not a museum for the holy.
SOSOSO thankful for church. So thankful for those inspired words.
Side note - The words in that blessing were SO specific to what she needed help with, and the elders had NO idea. The spirit is REAL.
This week was amazing. I didn't realize how much I missed the sun until it was shining on our morning run today... what a tender mercy.
Here are some bulletpoint highlights:
- Had some plans falling apart, stopped to pray, and right as we said "amen" a member walked up right behind us, ready to help
- Giving a Book of Mormon to our friend Sarah who we have talked to every day for 4 months
- Not running in snow spikes and falling 2 times
- Running in snow spikes and feeling pretty hardcore
OKAY wow writing those reminded me of the most precious tender mercy. Shoutout to Sister Linford's mom here. She sent a link in Sister Linford's email to a talk she liked. Naturally I was interested... and when I clicked on the link I accidentaly clicked another video and we ended up on this devotional with Elder Bednar and Gong about Latter Day Saints and Islam. We have contact with a lot of Islams, so we decided, why not??
THAT SAME NIGHT we had a lesson with a new friend, and he asked us all of these questions about what we believed compared to Islam, and we knew. We had a wonderful conversation with him because of that. GOD KNEW! He always does.
Highlights continued:
- Bought alfalfa and it absolutely was the best choice ever???
- Decided to go vegan
- HAD A LESS ACTiVE MEMBER COME BACK TO CHURCH AFTER THE MOST POWERFUL LESSON! Miracles :)
- Talked with Chris from Conneticut. He said that our belief that we're all brothers and sisters is hippy. I'll take it haha.
- Made the most perfect choclate chip cookies again.
Anyways, life is good. I am so thankful to be serving my Savior. He is my healer. He walks with me every step of the way. He feels what I feel, and what YOU feel. He loves ya :)
Ha det så bra!
