Week 15
Hejjjjj!
My last week here in Gubbängen has been JAM PACKED with spiritual experiences, food, and goodbyes. So, let's get started!
We have been meeting with our dear friend j for about 1 month now, and everytime we meet I leave feeling so inspired by her faith in God. She's shared many ways she has been so prepared to receive the restored gospel, but this one really swept us off our feet. As we ended our lunch with her she started telling us how she can remember when she was younger two missionaries in white shirts knocking on her family's door. Her mother wasn't interested and politely said no, and they were on their way. Our friend asked her mom who they were, and she said "They go around and teach people about God." Our sweet friend then told us that she then had a thought that she would become a member of that church. And now, look at her! She's meeting with us, inviting her family, and truly learning more about Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. I'm so thankful she told us that story, I know that the Lord has us where we need to be!
Side note - Those elders planted a seed! So cool to think about.
One strange thing I didn't think about before I came on my mission was how everyone thinks missionaries are starving. What is up with that? We had two appointments one night this week and we let the later one know that we were going to be having dinner before, so to not worry about doing anything, and they said "we'll just do something simple," which was really sweet of them. You can imagine our surprise when we walked into their house and saw our plates mile high with meatloaf and pasta. Funny thing is, that has happened multiple times before. I guess people just show their appreciation for the missionaries through food.
Other highlights include:
- traveling an hour to an appointment someone forgot about
- realizing I might not like fish anymore
- SEEING SANTA LUCIA
- Slipping everyday because this country is an ice skating rink
- got the cutest matching scarves from one of our investigators. I'm going to miss her so much!
- threw long boards off of a 3 story building because it was faster
I'm so thankful to talk to people about Jesus Christ full-time. He is the reason for everything, and I know He will help you with everything.
I hope everyone had a great week and enjoyed the snow :)
